CHAIR HUGHES asked the sponsor if she had any closing remarks on

REPRESENTATIVE LIZ SNYDER, Alaska State Legislature, Anchorage,
Alaska, sponsor of HB 298, thanked the committee for its work on
the bill and said she was happy to answer any remaining
questions.

3:31:06 PM
CHAIR HUGHES commented that HB 298 dovetails nicely with the
governor's work on food security, picking up where that project
left off. Boondoggles and mega projects have failed in the past
and the legislature does not want that to happen again. To that
end, HB 298 makes a concerted effort to include industry
participation. She noted her initial concern about the size of
the Alaska Food Strategy Task Force but said she now believes it
will work because the executive committee has just nine members.

CHAIR HUGHES found no further questions or comments and
solicited the will of the committee.
